Thanks to the Internet and social media, humans receive and spread information at unprecedented speed and volume. One of the significant downsides is the spread of misinformation. Platforms like Facebook and Google have a great power to influence public opinion, and are being increasingly misused to spread extremist ideas and undermine democracy. In the age of fake news, what can help us perceive reality in the most objective light?


Tomáš Kriššák is an expert on cognitive security who studied political science at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. s a project manager for Open Society Foundation in Bratislava, he’s working on several projects and initiatives. They all focus on removal of and protection from negative externalities of contemporary communication technologies, including social media and other interactive platforms.
