More about Safia
Founder & CEO at CupClub
Keynote Speaker at the Main Stage
“It makes you a bad designer if you make something that can’t be recycled; if you have no idea of what’s going to happen to your product after it’s been used”, says Qureshi. Safia Qureshi is an award-winning architect, designer and environmentalist who stands behind the reusable revolution. She is a great example of the growing female leaders’ network who are helping to shake up the industry when it comes to sustainability and circular economy. On November 21st, Safia is going to share her ideas on ending the era of single-use plastic. Do not miss this session if you’re fascinated by the circular economy, innovating systems, smart packaging and social impact.
Born in London, UK, Safia Qureshi graduated in architecture from University College London with First Class Honours and went on to do a Masters at the Royal College of Art. For over three years, she worked as the Lead Architect at the architecture practice Sheppard Robsondelivering large-scale commercial developments worth over £290 million.
She left in 2015 to launch the creative design agency Studio [D] Tale. The agency based in London and Cape Town focuses on projects with high social and environmental impact in both emerging and established markets. It served as an incubator to launch CupClub.
CupClub was born out of Safia’s interest in technology&design and how the intersection of these can boost the circular economy. She is passionate about empowering other founders, designers and technologists (women in particular) to think circular.
