From Iceland thorough the USA back to Slovakia, Pavol Čekan’s invaluable experience, unprecedented knowledge and far-reaching optimistic mood helped him make cancer diagnostics almost a piece of cake. Oh, and did we mention he’s also a folklore musician?

BIO:

Pavol is an innovative leader with over 15 years of experience at the top research and government institutions. He received his doctorate in chemistry from the University of Iceland in 2009. As a Postdoc-toral Associate at Rockefeller University, Pavol developed methods, technologies and applications for novel, fluorescence, multiplexed, accurate and quantitative RNA-based cancer diagnostics. Before founding innovative, biotech start-up MultiplexDX (a member of Oslo Cancer Cluster), he was working at a premier cancer research organization – National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, USA for 4 years where he further developed and validated his cancer diagnostics. Pavol is a PhD trained Nucleic Acid Chemist/ Biochemist focusing on modified oligonucleotide synthesis and spectroscopic analysis of nucleic acid structure/function. Pavol has 35+ scientific publications, is the inventor of 3 granted patents, and is a member of the Science Advisory Board of the Slovakian Ministry of Health. Pavol is a member of an exclusive network of CEOs called Mindshare and won several prestigious awards highlighting his business and scientific achievements (StartUp Awards 2016, The 2017 Mayor’s AwardCESAwards 2018, JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award 2018, etc.).
